Privacy policy

Effective 8 September 2026. Applies to TuneTheory for iOS and iPadOS, version 2.0 and later, published by CageFreeMedia.

What we collect

Nothing. TuneTheory has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting service, and no third-party software development kits. The app makes no network requests of its own.

The microphone

TuneTheory asks for microphone access so the tuner can hear your instrument. Audio is analysed on the device, in real time, to detect pitch. It is not recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. Turning the microphone permission off in iOS Settings disables the tuner and nothing else.

Purchases

TuneTheory Pro is a one-time purchase made through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and holds the transaction record. TuneTheory receives only confirmation that Pro is unlocked, and stores that single fact on your device so it can show Pro features. We never see your name, email address, or payment details.

Your settings

Your chosen instrument, tuning, tempo, kit, groove, and metronome presets are saved on your device so they are there when you come back. They are not synced or uploaded.

Children

Because TuneTheory collects no personal information, it collects none from children either.

This website

tunetheory.app is a static site. It sets no cookies. It uses Simple Analytics to count page views. Simple Analytics does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, does not build profiles, and does not track you across sites; what we see is aggregate numbers such as how many people read a page and which country they came from. Its own policy is at simpleanalytics.com/privacy-policy. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the request for the font file and nothing more.

Changes

If TuneTheory ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so before the change ships, and the app's App Store privacy label will be updated to match.
